GreenPEAS (Parents for Environmental Awareness in Schools) is a group of amazing, parent volunteers who are interested in furthering “green” efforts with the children and school administrators alike. The group’s efforts have included raising awareness in the school around idling, recycling, composting and getting Muddy Brook kids into the garden (our High School runs an incredible garden (a.k.a. “Project Sprout” across the street from our elementary school). Last year’s hard work culminated in Mud Day, a wonderful community day devoted to exploring, celebrating, and playing in our natural (and immediate) surroundings.
GreenPEAS has also started to do outreach to the various local organizations we have around us – CET (Center for Ecological Technology), Berkshire Botanical Garden, MassAudubon, Trustees of Reservations, etc. to see how all of their efforts can further augment the work at the school and enhance the children’s learning, and lives.
