We’ll kick off the Read-a-Thon on Wednesday, February 27 at an all-school assembly with a visit from Mary Pope Osborne and the Magic Tree House RV. During the Read-a-Thon there will be opportunities that encourage our students to share the reading experience including special classroom activities and a school-wide event, Family Literacy Night on Wednesday, March 6th.
Between Wednesday, February 27 and Friday, March 8th, students agree to read every day and keep track of the number of pages read by filling in their Reading Tally Sheet. Each student should begin by setting a daily goal and a total goal for pages read or pages read to. Parents and older siblings may read aloud to the student. This counts toward pages read.

Take a trip to the library and stock up on books of interest for everyone.

The Read-a-Thon is a fundraiser the students really enjoy! We encourage students to find sponsors from family and friends to pledge money toward their reading accomplishments. Pledges will be based on number of pages read, overall goals, or a general pledge amount. The money raised allows the PTA to provide financial support for after school programs and enrichment activities such as field trips and in-school workshops such as the 2nd grade Massachusetts Audubon program, the 4th grade Berkshire Theatre Festival residency program, and field trips to the Mahaiwe Theater and more. Sponsorship is not required to participate in the Read-a-Thon.
