WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!
GETTING SOCIAL…This school year started off with a bang…or rather a scoop! Our traditional Ice Cream Social was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by many in the Muddy Brook family. SoCo Creamery was again amazingly generous with their donation of ice cream, toppings, tattoos and more! Thanks to Kim Houston for organizing the event and to Jenni Hallock for getting the membership and information table set-up. Many parents, teachers and friends helped with set-up, scooping and clean-up, we couldn’t do this without you!
ON THE WEB…Our website muddybrookpta.com is up and running and we are making changes this year. We hope to make it more interactive and informative, as well as move most of our communications online to reduce the amount of paper that gets sent home. Visit us at muddybrookpta.com suggestions are welcome!!

Volunteering at Muddy Brook – A.K.A. “It Takes a Village”
Last year, the Muddy Brook PTA was able to raise close to $16,000 and subsequently turned it all around to provide curriculum enriching programs to the classrooms, teachers, and most importantly, OUR CHILDREN. This was done through the tireless efforts of a dedicated group of parents committed to running gift-wrap and cookie-dough fundraisers, planning and managing an online auction, craft fairs, raffles and more. This works out to be approximately $40 a student, an attainable goal if we all work together! With budget cuts, fieldtrip and assembly money is simply not available like it used to be. The PTA provides the extras for our students. This year we are not having a craft fair or an auction, so activities will be limited if participation in other fund raisers is limited.
As important as the fundraising events are, there are equally important ways to support the students of MBE. Giving your time, talent and ability not only helps the school, but it enriches our children’s education. Volunteers play a vital role in the success of a school and the achievement of its students. Any amount of time that you can give is extremely helpful and appreciated! We have tasks for everyone –moms, dads, kids, teachers, relatives, and family friends — all at various levels of participation.
We invite each of you, every family, to join with us as we look toward the 2009-2010 school year and consider the ways we can positively impact our children. What do you love to do? What energizes you? What are your gifts? Whatever your gift, skill level or time availability, there is a place for you to serve. What follows are a few current opportunities. Please check the muddybrookpta.com website for a list of opportunities, or send an email to us at to offer your ideas or assistance.
